Give ACER A Look...
Back in December 2006, instead of buying a new Vista-compatible Dell notebook system, I decided instead on Acer. With a little research, I was able to find out that Acer is the #5 maker of notebook and desktop computers in the world right now (Dell was there, once, a long time ago). The Acer system had a price tag about $70 less than Dell's and didn't come with annoying commercial adware. The only software that was included was PowerDVD (a DVD player), PowerProducer (a DVD production utility), NTI CD/DVD 7 (a CD/DVD burning utility), and Acer's own power and system management utilities. No offers from AT&T, CompuServe or AOL. No other extraneous software. Good stuff!
