Conservation is likely to return more
"..Instead of talking about the need to conserve.."

I bet far more energy is wasted on appliances that are off than servers and desktops in use combined. Conservation is key.

For instance. The electronic industry should rally around just one or two charging transformers that have an intelligent off switch when not in use. There are likely hundreds of millions of transformers plugged into the wall dissipating huge energy and heat doing absolutely nothing. This is what the government calls "vampire energy waste". It's amazing there is no better solution to this.
