Mississippi ?
Okay, not that I'm questioning this .... okay, yes I am.

The Mississippi River doesn't consume electricity.

Now, maybe the author meant "more electricity than is currently generated by
hydro-electric plants ON the Mississippi".

That's fine then. I didn't know there were ANY Hydro plants on the Big Muddy.

As for the rest of the math, I suspect the numbers combine all the costs of air
conditioning in the computer rooms as well as the power used in the server
closets.

Computers themselves don't use much power, but cooling definitely does.
