Look at the reality
The proposal is for the workers to take the pay cut, not the executives.

I haven't been hit with a pay cut, per se, but my spending power has dwindled. My pay has remained stagnant for the past few years because of a restructuring to save personnel costs. Meanwhile, child care, the electicity, water, natural gas, and food prices have gone up; likewise the cost of the gas I use to get to work.

Meanwhile, the business I work for has shown a healthy profit every year since the salary change and all the executives got pay raises, bonuses and other rewards. They can afford all the things I have to skimp on.

You tell me how lowered wages will make things cheaper... All the reality checks are going to the bosses!
