You break it down, it works. Getting there is the problem. It's common sense and logic.

If you average income is $40,000 and it shifts somehow to $20,000. So Bill Gates only has $25 Billion instead of $50 Billion. The costs decrease too. It's the value of money not the profits that change. You still keep you X profit margins. Just where in you example pepsi that $1.10 profit is now 55 cents but that 55 cents buys you exactly what $1.10 did so it's the exact same profit. Nothing changes.
