Not quite right
If everyone too a 55% pay cut the cost of good would be lower too. So consumer spending would remain the same. So really it wouldn't change a thing. Just the value of a dollar would increase. Where today a dollar buys a certain ammount dollar would buy 55% more.

So technically if everyone too even a 98% pay cut things would not change other than the countries like India wouldn't be able to compete anymore.

No as much as that seems like a good idea in theory it's near impossible to implement. Usually it takes something like depression the like of the 30s for this to occcur. Not something I'd like to go through from what I've read. Massive deflation is just as bad as massive inflation.
