The jury is still out for Intel Core 2 since that's a reduced clock speed processor that beefs up floating point capability which may not benefit most server applications. (in comparison to the P4)

Note, just like the Core 2, there's more improvements than just beefing up floating point. Let's see,
* large shared caches (2MB+)
* widening of data paths for increased data bandwidth
* widening of SSE from 64-bit to the full 128-bit
* 65nm
* extensions to x86_64
* increased independence between the dual memory controllers
* indepedent frequency states for each core
* indepent power states between CPU and memory controller

(from various places with a lot from extremetech and amd's 3-yr outlook)

I know, right now AMD is talking the talk and Intel is walking the walk, but a year ago Intel was talking the talk and AMD was walking the walk. Isn't competition great wink
