Surely more sales is nice - even 1/2 of Sun's business is only about 5% of the server volumes. You got my point, however. INtel expending resources to resuscitate Solaris after years of dissing it, I believe is a strategic misstep by Intel. Solaris is nice, but it's still largely irrelevant outside of telecom.
Intel should have just let SUN die by leaving them sweat it out against Linux and Microsoft and rely on AMD's obsolete offering.
