That is the point..
I don't think many people will care if the box is Linux or Windows. They will want to go to there local electronics shop or online store and just pick one up with everything preinstalled. Having a theoretical (or theological) debate about what is superior misses the point.

Not that HP or Sony could not do this with Linux, but will they?
