Thats what Raid 1 is for
If you are storing anywhere close to a TB of data on a single drive you better be doing Raid 1 so that you don't lost it all when the one fails, and its much more efficient than doing an actual backup of that much data. Though more pricey having three set in a raid 5 array would be quite nice indeed.
