Remember, CompuServe when being the best online service, got this same syndrom, and from then on, blamed any setback on minor external causes, disregarded its competitors, and ignored its own shortcomings. AOL, who was 1/20 of CS at the time, eventually grew enough to buy CS; yet CS continued to see themselves as the best...

It has been several years that (in a given line) every Nokia phone is a downgrade from the previous one: more bells and whistles indeed, but less sensitive, less reliable, less convenient. If Nokia continues to think they just have "midtier market holes" and to ignore the work they have to do, then they can start digging their own grave.

Nokia phones are still the best ones right now, but in a race, even the first doesn't remain the first for long if he stops running.
