Curious about AMDs pricing
I'm curious what the final cost of AMD's quad core will be. Intel, by having two dual-cores in a single package, gets an advantage when defects occur. If one of the dual-core slices has a defect, the entire package isn't toast. By having all four cores on a single larger piece of silicon, the chances for a defect rises, and you have to toss it completely out. Depending on what they can get their yield to be, AMD might be more expensive than Intel's quad cores or have a much worse profit margin. Still, I do like the idea of all the cores on a single piece of silicon better.
