Sure the price of video cards has been going insane in the last few years and AMD can be colluding with nVidia to drive the price up, but there are other competitors in the graphics card market besides AMD.
Intel is known for their low-end approach to the graphics card world. XGI and Sys both make cheap graphics cards.
