Two points:
1. Wind farms have no effect on the weather. The amount of energy they draw is orders of magnitude smaller than the wind. But they do generate noise.

2. A lot of the cost of a photovoltaic roof is installation. But if it is done at initial construction, that cost is not much more than normal.

Electricity from your roof can easily run your AC, and charge batteries that can recharge your car at night. But we really need to get the cost of batteries down.
