a super dud called Cell Processor
It has one main core and 8 sub cores.
This chip requires custom programming.
The sub cores are just helper cores. They dont do a lot.

I havent seen any benefit of any sort from a normal processor although there seem to be disadvantages (custom programming required to make use of the sub cores).

In marketing brochures, the Cell is branded as the ultimate processor but in reality there is no benefit. Infact Sony made a big mistake going with the Cell. They should have stuck to the regular PowerPC chip (a multi-core version would have been more powerful).
