Nope, the article is wrong
The 500MW/year in the article is for the coal plant, which makes no sense. It should just be "500MW" (or even "500 Megawatt Years per Year" which would be accurate but silly as the years cancel out). If you were referring to solar panel output by saying "450MW/year" it would be correct, meaning they produce enough panels each year to generate 450MW.
