like with my P4 motherboard that has a built in ATI graphics chipset. And my other P4 board with an intel graphics chipset.

When integrated, you rarely find RAM just for the video. You find that they divide the main RAM amongst the CPU and graphics... And it is controlled by the BIOS...

what'd be nice is if things that were "integrated" were more thoroughly integrated... you look at a motherboard, it's got about 10-20 different chips sitting on it. even if you don't change the stuff that each chip does, you'd make the computer more energy efficient if you just merged them into 1 chip. take the circuit layout for the board and each chip, allocate sections based on function, and voila, you've got 1 chip for your integrated graphics, one chip for integrate networking, one for integrated sound, one chip to control your buses (include RAM, because you can), and the CPU... if any function dies, just replace the one chip... yes, the capacitors would stay seperate, but by integrating things into the "group chips", you'd have a smaller MoBo, it'd be more energy efficient (less distance along the threads of the MoBo, overall)

As well, I can't think of anywhere that I've seen graphics-only memory on a motherboard with integrated graphics.
