Intels edge
Their "edge", it seems, was derived from their relationship with ms.

I know at one time ms and intel shared information with each other to the detriment of competitors. ms would tell intel about new software and intel could get their chips/motherboards out before anyone else, leaving the others to play catch up.

Don't know if this is still the case, but I use AMD exclusively in my builds also, and am very happy with their processors.

AMD has lower cost and faster performance.

Nuff said.
