Pricing.

For people who are only concerned about up front pricing then you are absolutly correct, the Dell appears to be the obvious choice. There have been a lot of comparisons done and some say the Dell's are better deals and others say the Macs are.

I guess it just depends on who is buying it. You sound like a person who's main concern is up-front pricing so you should stick with a Dell. A lot of other people however (and more everyday) are chosing Mac's for a variety of reasons.
