The patent goes on to give a detailed description of file structure, naming conventions and other methods intended to make it easier for people to find and manage game data.

Use the HD with Linux and go to jail ... nice plan. Next it will be on the PC "game platform".

Imagine, you can't stop users from loading up Linux, so you modify the interface and patent it ... then anyone who writes a driver (the scheme is disclosed in the patent) is violating your IP rights unless they get a license from you.

Blah, unless they tweak the interface itself folks will just low level format the HD and use it for what it was meant - storage not market control.
