Penalty for switching

Not so much any advantage they have is it? More like the penalty for switching.

It would cost so damn much to switch and rewrite the software that nobody wants to, unless they're facing upstart competition they don't want to take the pain.

This is the same line MS is pushing against Linux... that the penalty for switching is so high that its best to just suck it up and pay for the upgrades.
