Here we see the fatel flaw in the patent system...
Two people can invent the same things independently in isolation (without copying).

The patent system gives all the power to the person who arrives at the patent office first without looking at the global issues.

The most famous example is the patent for the telephone. Two independent inventors arrived at the patent office the very same day with their inventions, only one of them got the fame and the money.
