Transmeta doesn't even really exist anymore except as an "intellectual property company" does it?

I would tend to think this is bogus.

Yes, I remember transmeta was the first to talk about power consumption, especially in notebook computers. I thought their code morphing stuff was an interesting idea. But Intel and AMD both came out with lower power chips.

The truly innovative thing transmeta did was code morphing, x86 instruction set as an abstraction layer above a supposedly cooler, more energy-efficient architecture.

Speedstep is just Intel's name for dynamic clock throttling, and it's been around forever.... uhm estoppel anyone????
