I wonder having 4 computers connected to each other
with each having 256 TB of DDR2 DRAM (or at least next-generation FB-DIMM 2) and have 4 computers talk to each other, doing complex calculations!

I htink the enterprise will have to spend millions of dollars to have those supercomputers with 8 processors containing 4 cores which total up to 32 processors! I would probably assume that a quad-core processsor would cost you $2,500, while 8TB of FBDIMM2 RAM would cost you about $150,000 if I'm right (but not sure), $500 for a motherboard, one (or two) 32GB solid state hard drive(s), 1000W power supply (~$500), etc. and I think that's all the basic components you have to have... Plus, 4 of 1TB SATA2 Hard Drive can be optional, with up to 4TB per super computer!

Am I crazy or what? Those costs with all the high-end parts can be more than just a supercomputer!! About the costs, this is just a rough estimate and pretty sure I can be wrong.

32gb should be enough  doh123 | 10/11/06
It would be for an OS, like a Longhorn Datacenter Edition.  Grayson Peddie | 10/11/06
