Sharps Screen Seen at 2006 CES
I attended the 2006 CES show and saw the 1 million to 1 contrast screen at their booth. It was in a darkened "room" set up there. It was displaying a shore scene of some city lights shining near the shore, reflected on the water with a large boat docked at the shore. The effect was so realistic, I almost felt my feet would get wet from the perspective of looking on shore from the water. The nice Japanese lady greeting and bowing at the room entrance was very polite, but offered no insight into the possible timeframe of the screen's commercial release. When I asked her when it might be available, all she said "is prototype, is prototype". So no clue on availablity. I can only say it was one of the most realistic night scenes I have ever seen. It also made me wonder what cameras were used to capture the moving images they were displaying.
