You are assuming harddrive technology will stand still. It won't - from what I've read, there's plenty of new technologies on the horizon. By the time Flash reaches several gigabytes, harddrives will be boasting several terabytes. If you are willing to spend some money, you can already get a couple of 500GB drives and have terabyte capacity for your home PC.
The reasons for owning a harddrive are NOT power consumption, speed, or transfer rates. If those were the most important factors, harddrives woul've been dead a long time ago.
You get a harddrive for sheer capacity. That's the overruling factor and will continue to be in the forseeable future. The harddrive has nothing to fear from Flash memory.
So - how long do you predict it'll be until I can buy a terabyte Flash drive, hmm? Thought so. - Posted by: CobraA1 Posted on: 09/29/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
