Watching a little too much Star Trek?
The hard drive will eventually die, but not because of this flash silliness. Data density per unit of physical space still means that for anything large, only a hard drive will do.

Even blue-ray/hd-dvd is a joke in terms of capacity.

Whoever creates something like a holographic 3-d optical storage cube with thousands of layers will launch the next storage revolution.

Make sure you keep breathing in the meantime...
