Somebody say it, please: Pretexting is Lying
I think I have heard the word "pretexting" one time too many. It sounds like a simple, innocuous thing, doesn't it? You could hear it in conversation, and if all the HP scandal hadn't been publicized, you probably wouldn't give the word a second thought.

The fact is, pretexting is lying to phone companies to fraudulently steal confidential information. I defy the readers of ZdNet and CNET to find even one person who wants their personal information stolen. I don't.

I am so tired of this whitewash.

Somebody please ban this ugly word, pretexting. Somebody please say it, and say it loud: pretexting is lying, stealing and fraud.
