CRC technology
In the real world, data moving quickly through semiconductors can, due to cross-channel noise, at random times, be distorted enough that the next stage in the path the data takes misinterprets it. Having CRC checking will catch those internal chip errors, making the chips more stable at the high speeds and low voltages they work at. I suspect you know little to nothing about electronics.
