Taxes, taxes, taxes did I mention TAXES. Combine this with governemnt mismanagement of such things as energy this adds to the cost of living dilemma.

Energy costs (including fuels for cars) are outrageous. California gets most electricity from grids outside of state. There has not been a new power plant built in the state for many years and those that exist are inefficient and cannot keep up with growing demand. California has a "not in my backyard" attitude leaving themselves open for higher prices and when costs rise. Because of IMHO overly strict enviromental practices the cost of motor fuel is higher there due to the fuel blends and TAXES.

Combine all this with out of control spending on feel good programs, taxes have risen in California to such a point that new businesses do not want to locate there and those that are still in California are looking for a way out. California should take a lesson from Governor Bill Owens and cut taxes across the board on the people and business. Combined with reduction of expenditures on state programs Colorado has seen a net increase in the amount of taxes collected. Imagine that cutting taxes and tax revenue collected increases. Wanna kill a business climate keep taxing at a high rate. Wanna see the state recover, cut the taxes.
