Very easy to have 50 cores utilized with Java
You can hardly help geting 50 threads going on java application or large applet. Each threat could run in its own core. Java was developed with this in mind. Fortran is the other big threader and hence big potential core user.

The implications are that products built like Microsoft builds them (for Xbox single core single processor and X86) machines will appear quite slow in comparison to product built using Java. In fact Microsoft Office will run slower on dual processor dual core machines than they will on last years single processor single core machines because the multi processor CPU's are clocked slower. I suspect open office kinks Microsoft office on performance big time on this year's multicore models.
