are catching up rather quickly.
In the meantime the best outcome for ALL of us is that AMD keeps the pressure on Intel by continuing its FINE job on microprocessors. I wish they could also do an AMD Itanium but that's too wishful.
The downside in the success of AMD is that we will have to leave with the DYNOSAURIC x86 (64 bit or not) ISA for at least 5 to 10 years.
(64KB segmented architecture.... I think am going to throw up
Yes, I know that we have moved beyond that but the memories are still very vivid )
