- Wrong motives, stupid tactics

I see no indication that any motive other than the interests of the company's interested parties -- which, let's not forget, includes employees, their family members, and participants in the economy that a company the size of HP builds around itself, in addition to its shareholders -- was under consideration in the decision to leak information.
The mania for secrecy -- the placement of loyalty to "shareholders" before loyalty to other just as relevant (though not as privileged) human communities -- the intense focus on "integrity" as a function of that loyalty -- all of these speak to a subordination of individual moral judgement to the will of the Company.
