Which IP address ???
Would the log not show you AT BEST the ip of the cable modem or DSL adapter? Unless there is static IP, that could possibly change many times.

Even then, you would need to subpoena the ISP to find out what individual node had that address at any given time, no ?

Do you know some way to reconcile an email address with an ip address?? I would also suspect most users to have at least a rudimentary firewall with NAT such as those that come with any basic off-the-shelf router.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it is that easy to identify an individual based on an IP address without a warrant for the ISP.
