- So let me get this straight...

Are you saying that HP didn?t do such a bad thing? Is the evidence you are using to support such a questionable stance is that there have been a few reporters in the past that have written fake stories, faked photos or participated in less then ethical practices? Are you saying we should just let the bad reporters off the hook and likewise we should not find HP?s conduct offensive either?
I do not follow you here. Reporters that have been caught faking anything in the news are practically drawn and quartered. And they do not just get to move to another desk in the newsroom afterwards either. They are summarily fired and typically never find a respectable job in the news business ever again. If what you are saying is that analogous treatment should be dished out for HP executives based on what happens to unethical reporters, letting HP off the hook would hardly be the result.
Maybe you are saying HP is just giving the news industry a little payback for the news business occasional breach of ethics by some reporters, so that makes HP?s behavior acceptable? I do not get how that would work?I mean I had really bad service a few months ago in a restaurant out of town, should I get a little ?payback? you think next time I go to my regular restaurant, even though their service is usually pretty good, and stiff the waitress there for her tip to get back at the other place? I just cant seem to make sense of your reasoning no matter how I look at it.
No matter how you cut it, HP behaved like corporate jackasses. Just because they cannot seem to keep their own confidential information confidential it does not give them the right to authorize invasive investigative techniques into peoples lives who do not even work for them. - Posted by: Cayble Posted on: 09/21/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
