Good for them. Open h/w is a good approach and many good ideas
can bubble to the surface for actual chips.

But T1 needs to improve its FP unitS: it needs MORE.

Next up is the single or dual core improvement of SINGLE threaded computations! Power5+ / 6 or even AMD and the latest Core-2 are doing much better job at that. I understand that if IBM with its top notch processor has hard time selling units, SUN would have to come up with truely innovative or even radically new designs to come up with a competing architecture.

I hop that their chip-MT will make them enough money to R/D this too....

It is nice though that SUN is not giving up on R/D even though it is fighting big fights in sales....

Let's see the T1-FP now happy
