Yes, CSI is catchy but Intel will need more than cheesy names to
"Intel is hoping CSI will do for them in servers what 'CSI' did for CBS in ratings," said Insight 64 analyst Nathan Brookwood, referring to the hit TV series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

recapture the appreciation of OEMs. It seems that Intel's engineers are suffering "culture shock" when they have to contemplate memory controller on-chip. They are just used to having the super-FAT (NOT fast)NorthBridge chips to control (and properly SLOE DOWN) all traffic to/from processors and memory.

The poor design and the obvious limitations of FSBs is what stiffling the performance of Intel processors. It is remarkable that even their latest "twin-tower" will hit limitations as soon as the quad core is out! And Intel is wokring hard to make the quad-core a reality supposedly by q4 06 or q1 07.

Well Intel chose the low + crappy end as their space and after they botched the IA64 and Opterons are gaining serious ground, have to work exponentially hard to come up with some truly survivable in the long term proc/mem architecture.

It definitely is good to have true competition around to move things along. )If only MS could get similar pressure, they would be able to survive in the long term..... but who cares? wink )

Come on Intel: keep working hard...
