... to try and take control of the game for yourself.
The question you pose is functionally equivalent to asking why people go into business for themselves -- to why they ever choose to try to make something *better* than what's available. As a capitalistic westerner, you should be in favor of that urge. Instead, you seem to be advocating the herd mentality that westerners have attributed (wrongly) to asians for centuries.
Get out of your western mindset for a few minutes, and recognize this: India and China had great civilizations before anybody in Europe was writing on paper. We should expect them to feel some pride in that. And we should expect them to act on that pride. And we shouldn't fault them for it: After all, acting on Pride is what's made America dominant.
And unless you believe that we have some spiritual right ot that dominant position, then you shouldn't complain when others try to unseat us -- just as we would to them.
That's what free markets are about, after all -- right? - Posted by: escoles@... Posted on: 03/30/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
