That they spent all their money on hardware?
As much as it pains me to say this, Loverock is right. Windows does not compete, nor attempt to compete, in this space.

Supercomputing is a highly specialized world. It's all about "big math problems". These specialized computers are just very different systems than those which run a website or an insurance company.

Not every computer story posted on ZDNET is about Windows versus Linux (or AMD versus Intel), no matter how much some people try.
