That's what the Niagra is all about
What I cannot figure out is why Sun would continue development on a single core architecture like the IIIi+. Whether it is a good mix of processor and cache or not, the multi-cores are clearly providing better throughput, and the Niagra is a great entry. Why are they not putting their dollars into the Niagra? Intel may be stuck on duals, but other companies (e.g., Azul, IBM) are on thier way to 24-core processors. Sun should get on the boat, and leave single-cores to running Tivos and Blackberrys.
