From the days of the Viking
Sun has a history of taking too long to introduce new processors. Usually they FINALLY release the chips - years late (unlike the failed and forgotten Viking), after the whole world has passed them by. Good thing they're scrappy and can close the gap quickly - otherwise they would be but a footnote in history.
