Wow, did you open yourself up for flames. You have attacked someones favorite platform, so even if you were being completely serious and truthfully expressing your experiences, they will crucify you. Simply because they haven't had the same experiences, you must be lying.

Seriously, though, my company has a pretty wide assortment of hardware and platforms. We buy based on what tool will be best for the job, not on any set of computer religious beliefs.

None of our G4's (no G5's yet) have any of the problems you are discussing. Perhaps we use them differently than you, but I wouldn't say they are slow or have any of those problems you mentioned. We had some issues in the early days of OS/X but they seem to have gotten the bugs worked out now and they are very stable. They multitask just fine, although there are some operations during which multitasking isn't a great idea (major renderings in PhotoShop come to mind). That would be true on any platform, though.

On the other hand, we have a lot of Dells, too. They do not run any faster or slower, or have any more or fewer problems, than any of the PCs we have from other major vendors. We also have no more or fewer problems with OS issues on them than we do with the Macs (we have a mix of 2000 and XP, with some Linux thrown in here and there).

They often say the real difference between any two similar machines is the person configuring it. I think you may have trouble configuring your Macs, while some of those who replied to you may have trouble configuring their Dells...
