Maintenance costs
Speed is a need but so is ease of maintenance. The AMD line is somehow connected with Oracle. I imagine something like Nagios http://www.nagios.org/ which many of us have mashed into our help systems is used by Oracle for the AMD line. Intel can catch up of course. Nagios is open source.

You would want the status of each processor on the servers. This is the Java world. New Age Mainframes. Java is great for multi-processors and has been ready for them for 10 years. We would have seen this a decade ago if not for the illegal use of monopoly power. Microsoft start following. At least get out of the way. Duck...

World Wide SunTec days is in Seattle on September 6th and 7th. It is an in your face Microsoft nuclear bomb. You can bet a lot of the Microsoft employees will be taking "vacation" or "sick" days on the 6th and 7th to see what they have been missing. To tell the truth, I can't believe it myself.
