Yey! DeCSS is legal and any player designed to be interoperable with DVD is legal.
Yey reverse engineering WMA & WMV is legal to make an interoperable player.
Yey, analysing XBox to determine how its copy protection works for the purpose of making a compatible XBox is legal, cool.
So how is it different? I am making a compatible toner cartridge for a Lexmark printer and thats legal, yet I make a compatible CD + game and thats not?

The copy protection chip in the XBox isn't very entertaining, yet I have hours of fun with toner cartridges. Do Oscar movies get more protection than non Oscar movies now?
