... moves on to the next village, what happens to the folks who come out looking for a fish from the giver of fishes? Yep - they are SOL.

However, the one person that the giver taught HOW to fish can supply the entire village with fish using what he learned and the tools he has... day after day after day after day... etc.

The shortsighted view is always the rosier - the longer view takes more courage and determination - and provides a better outcome in the long run.

Who said that solutions are always win/win? Sometimes, there is a short term loss that will fuel the long term gain.
