- Guys, you are ignorant too. Thus, let?s simplify the issue.
-
First iPods had battery problems (to replace battery ? you
have to replace the iPod). Is it high quality hardware? The
highest price is not equal the highest quality.
1.8GHz Power Mac G5 was designed for professional
studios. Surprise! It had incompatibility with high-end
audio. I would call it as a low quality product and very poor
testing, and you?
Apple?s FireWire drivers OX 9 (Western Digital external
FireWire Hard Drives), 10.3 (Oxford chipset) caused total
data-loss on external FireWire Hard Drives. Can you call it
as a high quality job?
Do you remember that iMac did not wake up from sleep-
mode? iBook computers go into the notebook's version of a
coma ? Mac users can't restart the system from the low-
power mode notebooks go into when they aren't being
used.
And data-loss:
Apple posted information on its site acknowledging the
problem with some iBooks as well as the recently revised
PowerBook systems.
"In rare circumstances when available memory is low,
putting an iBook or PowerBook (FireWire) to sleep with this
feature enabled can cause some critical file system data to
get overwritten. This will result in a flashing question mark
the next time the computer is started up," Apple said in the
<ocument.
A similar problem with Dell notebooks sold in 1999.
In Dell's case, 200,000 to 400,000 users could experience
problems "when returning from memory self-refresh mode
and/or when resuming from suspend mode, potentially
resulting in data loss and/or corruption," Dell warned in a
letter sent to customers. In Dell's case, the problem
stemmed from certain defective memory modules, not a
software issue, as appears to be the case with Apple (you
pay $129 extra for this feature).
Do you remember that Apple?s DVD drivers that did not
work properly? Or too noisy G4s? Or over-heating problems
with Cube? Or problems with the logic-board of recent
iBook computers?
The list is going on.
Why Apple does poor job and sell it for the highest price?
Because Apple is a niche-market monopoly, and as any
monopoly it does not care about its clients.
P.S. Take Macworld journal December 2003, p. 60 and read
it ? Dual G5 was 2-3 times slower a single CPU Allienware
and G5 was more expensive. This is the price of monopoly
on Apple hardware.
P.P.S. Cars ? 95% use the same road and fuel. ?Apple cars?
are not. Is it monopoly or not? - Posted by: Vily Clay Posted on: 03/25/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
