The Macintosh is a personal computer. So is Dell, Gateway, HP, and in the past several other brands such as Amiga. All fit under the general concept of a Personal Computer. So in effect Apple does not have a monopoly on Personal Computers, nor computers in general. It like Pepsi has a monopoly on it's products...yes. Go ahead and try and copy Pepsi's or Cokes formular..see where it gets you. Yet Pepsi and Coke do compete even though they own their products lock stock and barrel.
As for stagnation...I think Apple's inovation's over the years speak for themselves. Over and over again:)
The iPod and iTune's continue Apple's leadership role as an innovator. It was Apple who blazed this trail that sooooo many others are trying to follow. Not bad for a so called stagnant monopolist.
Yes Apple owns the Macintosh.
Just as Ford owns the Focus.
Just as Pepsi owns well Pepsi.
Yet in each case there are competitors and many of them.
As for performance...Well before the G5 you might have had something there. No longer however, and in the past it was not Apple's fault but Moto's that the G4 did not keep pace.
As for price...heck the Focus does the job it was intended to do, and I applaud your sense of economic conservatisim if you choose to purchase one. Me however...I prefer the BMW convertable. We both get from point A to point B..I just enjoy it more:) - Posted by: Laff Posted on: 03/25/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
