It's not something unique to Apple. As I said, Visa sent a cease and decist letter to eVisa.com, who arrange travel Visas. I think it's just a CYA (cover your donkey) move by lawyers, just in case it actually eventually means anything. They can later say they were diligent in protecting the trademark.
