Check out the FP or Int benchmark results for ALL existing processors that are published in http://www.bench.org. You can see there the EXACT compilation flags and exact system configurations. You can then fraw your own conclussions. The suite of benchmark programs is MUCH more broad and realistic than the little performance "kernels" that Tom's BBQ/hw runs.

I am looking forward to seeing the NEW Intel Core 2 and the new AMD opterons compared head-to-head and results published there.
