The references to blade servers here give the height as 1.75" or multiples. In the sponsored links there are 1U servers. 1U = 1.75" 2U = 3.5" That is a standard which has lasted a long time. It was set by the British Post Office for the panels in the 19" Post Office Rack for Strowger exchanges. I used these racks and panels for radar test equipment in the early 1950s long after the standard came into common use.
